Structure of the class

Mastering the fundamentals of theoretical mechanics and theoretical electrodynamics Modeling and theoretical analysis of physical processes, extension of problem-solving competence

Link to the course catalog

The students are made familiar with independent research. The module serves as orientation phase with regard to the Master's thesis and can therefore already take place in the context of the field of work of the future Master's thesis.

The students solve complex experimental questions of modern optics by their own and largely independent practical activity. They are able to assess the use of experimental principles, techniques and devices and to evaluate and document results independently.

Aims
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to analyze optical processes taking place in integrated photonic devices in a quantum mechanical framework. The students will be familiar with the main quantum mechanical concepts that will allow them to pursue more advanced topics in quantum optics, semiconductor and solid-state physics, and modern optoelectronic and nanophotonic devices.

Requirements
The material of the Bachelor of Physics, especially Electrodynamics, Optics, and Basic Quantum Physics

Structure of the class
